I can see every day a bunch of new topics like this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3650159.0
First post:
The parent company of New York Stock Exchange, ICE is reportedly working on a bitcoin exchange for big investors that will allow them to trade and hold bitcoin. After Goldman Sachs’ bitcoin future trading desk and Nasdaq’s collaboration with Gemini, Wall Street is slowly but surely warming up to the Bitcoin market.

here is more : https://coingape.com/nyse-developing-a-bitcoin-exchange/

What happens if I report it to the moderator, to move the topic to the Press section? Am I doing right or wrong? I'm asking this because in the Press section, usually people copy the whole article and after a link, but what to do with threeliners like this followed by a link?
I can understand that people want to let other people know that things happen in the world but this is a special type of copypaste and not a real discussion topic for me.

Seems like the press section itself has kind of grown out of fashion due to how bitcoin has been adapted more and more over time as well.

I guess it was meant to discuss how the press/mainstream media covered/talked about bitcoin, but now that bitcoin itself has gone so mainstream the board has become a bit redundant.

OK, I'll try to ask the same from a different point of view:

Should we let the members (spammers in this case) to grow their activity with posting a few sentences from articles into a new topic in the Bitcoin Discussion thread? Without additional comment? (and not like: What is your opinion about this, etc...) or without any effort to add something to the discussion?
I can accept that they don't want to use the Press section because it's old fashioned or something like that but in that case they should somehow try to write a few sentences about the article itself and not just copy and paste a few lines...

Once plagiarism issues are set aside (sources should be cited), my stand is that things like this should be assessed on a case-to-case basis.

There are cases where the headline will be so striking that a single line will be enough to spark a conversation. However, if the user in question repeatedly keeps posting this way and no longer even attempts to engage in discussion (and just ends up becoming an RSS feed), warnings and punishment should be warranted.

This issue is also about how the forum needs to balance being open to embrace public (which is needed for further crypto adoption) and at the same time filter out trash.

I think that is what makes it spam. If they post a few lines from an article and then express an opinion as to why it is important/good/bad or whatever and start a discussion, then it has some value.

Press is itseld FUD - just the name is different. Media in countries is just propaganda news and fake news everywhere.

It did and I guess now it has become a place for spam only.

Once plagiarism issues are set aside (sources should be cited), my stand is that things like this should be assessed on a case-to-case basis.

This would be looked down as censorship of speech or like removal of freedom of speech.

I have two ideas regarding how to combat this. One radical and one conservative.
1.Radical idea - remove the Press section altogether.

2.Conservative idea - Make the Press section similar to the RSS feed system. Nobody can comment or start discussions there. News are to be highlighted like this :

Code:
News: Latest stable version of Bitcoin Core: 0.16.0 (https://bitcoin.org/en/download)  [Torrent (https://bitcointalk.org/bitcoin-0.16.0.torrent)]. (New!)

This will retain the concept of "Press" and people will get the news (which is the goal). But will also reduce spam and/or redundancy.
