Amazon Cloud Mining

I was wondering about the communities opinion with regards to cloud mining.

Is this something that could prove profitable under the right circumstances?

For example,
From what I understand it would not be profitable for something like bitcoins.
Perhaps and alt currency that shows promise and is still yielding high returns would be viable?
Or furthermore the most ideal situation might be cloud mining a currency that is brand new with the highest risk/reward ratio possible?
