My mining rig has 3 powercolor RX 580  separated by 6 inches. One of the GPU constantly going over 80 deg F (27 deg C). Rest both GPUs are below 70. Any suggestions what should I do? Rig is using claymore to mine ETH.

Check the fans first and see at what speed you have set them. If you have set through MSI afterburner and have set same fan speed for all cards then physically check the fans of the card who is giving you higher temperature.

If you notice the fan is running normal then consider adding an additional fan to that card.

Thanks a lot for your response.

I am using ethos to run the miner. I first put the fan speed same for all three cards (85) then set 85 to the affected gpu and 75 for the other two. I am trying to get the noise and heat down so that I don't need to disable for coming summer. I did not do any setup in MSI afterburner.

Any suggestions?

Have you checked what slot installed on this high temp GPU and tried to install/swap on another slot with your mboard?

I have also these scenario from one of my rig where in a certain slot of my board when GPU installed were hot, its kinda weird thing and I'd just move it to other slots.

I actually moved them to a new Mobo. I will try putting that card in a different slot tonight.

I heard that one way to keep temperature low is to use cryptonight algo. May be I should try it.

Thanks again.

I see this issue happen on zotac nividia cards normally but first time I am seeing that Rx series cards showing this issue. if you have overclocked more, please reduce down default to reduce the heating issue.
Then check the room temperature mate. Since this is Summer time we will find the heat issue normally on through out the room.
Maximum you can have 78 Degree for this cards. That its maximum heating value mate.

Thanks mate.

The GPU is with factory bios. There are other cards dealing with same ambient temperature but they are fine. Only this GPU is having issues.

Dont forget, many GPU need to be overclock to obtain a better temperature and of course, better hashrate (With my OC i have better Temp + PW + Hashrate)

Cryptonight algorithm is perfect in such cases as it consumes only 100watt for a card which ethhash algorithm consumes 150watt , with cards like yours in factory settings.

By consuming less energy it emenates less heat too so that will be a good option by mining cryptonight. I am mining with Claymore and I have set temperature limit for the summer 77 degree celsius as it gets hot in here but three months at constant 75-76 degree celsius is a good test to see how powerful my cards are. I don't recommend this to anyone though, all people should have a target of less than 65 degree celsius for a longer lifespan of their cards.

are you mining XMR (CrpytonightV7)? What is your fan setting?

one of the many solutions is to lower your core and power limit for that one gpu or give a bit more space between that gpu and other ones on your rig frame.

It can mean a few things. First the GPUs in front will always run coolest. Since the GPUs behind it are using hot air to cool your GPU.

Second you might have an Powercolor RX 580 with a crappy silicon lottery and it requires more voltages for stability. Run the GPUz and look at your ASIC quality and compare all 3.

Last reason is most likely one of your fans is dying. See if it's wobbling or rattling.

What voltage are you running at and what are you mining? Avoid dual mining if you are hitting high temps. If the fan control is not the answer, lower your voltage.
