Can a company offer shares for bitcoin?

What would be the best way to sell company shares on with bitcoin.  Say a company in India has close to $1 mil in shares they want to sell for bitcoins.  Would it be best to talk to someone like coinbase and they might have some solutions, or should they just have people transfer coins to a wallet and send them shares.  Are there some good links for this.

I'm guessing it's not possible to use the data in the blockchains to put the shares in.  So you could just transfer the shares that way.

Well, there have been proposals regarding this, in fact I think there is some solution setup for this already. But I can't remember its name
