I haven't been following it very closely but I've heard rumors about asics being released for scypt mining early in 2014. Have any of these rumors been verified?  These are the two companies I know of that claim to be shipping next year. Scryptasic seems like a scam but Alpha seems like they might actually have a shippable product. Any thoughts?

I have two words for you that should tell you everything you need to know.

Butterfly Labs

+1 (and hello again BCX Cheesy), just look into their history and see if you see a pattern. I suggest waiting for an actual proven product before giving anyone money.
