Bitcoin.de and Exchange advice!

Hello all,

First post to the forums. Just want to introduce myself and get verified to post more in the future.

I've been involved with Bitcoin for over a year - 18 months now. I can't remember what I paid for my first few Bitcoins, but it was negligible.
Invested a little now, enough to pay close attention to the price each day, although I won't be in the red unless the price truly plummets!

Initially I used MtGox as an exchange.
After my first purchase I forgot completely about Bitcoin until the crash earlier this year.
Took all my coins out of MtGox and moved to Bitcoin.de. Perfectly happy with their service but they require an awkward authentication procedure to trade over a certain volume.

Does anybody have any recommendations for a new Exchange, as we enter 2014, for an EU based Bitcoin user?
For whatever reason I tried Bips.me earlier this year as well. That did not end well as some of ye may know.

I know there are plenty of options but I'd like to hear some feedback or recommendations,
