Hello guys.
I'm thinking to set up a mining pool.

I have zero know-how in this server-software, but i'm a webmaster and i've some websites (phpbb/wordpress/so on) on a really fast servers that i can use for this pool too.

I'm looking for someone interested in collaboration: i imagine to do a REAL-0.00% fee pool with autoswitching, no registration and some cool stuff.

Is someone able to help me??  Wink

As much as id love to get involved were doing a project just like it.

Our first foray into Stratum has been a little hit and miss, but my advice is, take your time, pay attention

It really is rather simple to get working and configured so long as you pay attention to each and every step

First, thank you for the focus.
Last but not least, i really don't know anything about it. Can you suggest me some software or something to look up?
I've heard something about p2pool software?

We have chosen to use

MPOS from https://github.com/TheSerapher/php-mpos, now it has some "issues" it is NOT recomended for a production service as yet, we have taken a gamble with it

Stratum is simple enough just google howto install stratum.

Took us a little over 3 days of trial error and restart, and several OS Platforms, we opted for Ubuntu Server 12.10 in the end for simplicity

When you invite people to come and test, be straigh with them, make sure its a known test, and there there will almost certanly be a few hiccups

I don't think to become public until the server is perfectly set up.

PS: all helps/collaboration are welcome.  Smiley

Well, i expected more participation.. Undecided
I thought was interesting to have a really user-friendly pool.

Let's explain my idea:
- 0,00% fee pool, only donations.
- a impressive numbers of alt-coins on SCRYPT method, with auto-switch between most profitable
- auto-conversion to the most famous coins, like LTC
- automatic withdraw, every 0.05LTC totalized
- no registration is needed

Is it possible to do?? Should be great.
Come on guys!

Well now we have been running a while i can give you some more feedback, you will spend a serious ammout of time in the configs making changes etc, as for your "idea" i dont want to wee on your perade, but your offering nothing thats not available already, hell even were implementing very simmular, we settled on 1% fees for now, and users can choose to donate more if they wish.

Some other things to consider.

MPOS Cron on a LARGE pool is in efficent, and it routinly takes 10mins for us to complete the cron, now playing with configs we are getting it down lower and lower but its a slow process.

Network make sure your network is decent, even a minor ammout of latency can have implications for the pool

Security whatever you do secure the servers as best you can firewall is A MUST

Prepair for Denial Of Service, weve been hit twice so far with denial of service not that it got em anywhere theres not enough firepower to bring down the network we use because they have a biblical ammount of DDOS protections

Server Resorces.
DOnt just install 20 pools and hope it will work, i got a rude awakening, the number of users hashing has a direct implication to server load for every 10,000 Khs on our system we see a load avg increase of between 0.8 and 1.2 right now one pool is holding a load avg of 2.5ish give or take, were looking at a maximum of 3 pools to a server to leave plenty in the tank for the busy periods and influx when BTC hits the good news etc.

I wish you all the best with your project and i hope the above will slow you down a bit, dont rush it take your time and learn, youll find plenty of people out there to help you test your pools etc, dont install and go public youll be bald in a day!!!!

All the best
