'Our goal is to rescue cats/kittens from kill shelters that are in danger of being euthanized; keep as many cats as possible from being brought into animal control to begin with; rescue as many cats as possible from out of the shelter with the resources we have available; and focus locally so that the metro area cats don’t fall through the cracks simply because they have standard suburban stories.
How will we do this?
At this time, there are no low cost spay/neuter stand-alone clinics or mobile units serving the citizens of Cobb County. We are working to establish a low-cost spay/neuter stand-alone clinic to keep cats (and dogs) from entering animal control because of high birth rates or families struggling financially. In addition to helping the public, the clinic will accommodate rescues that take cats into their program from the local county shelter and individuals that trap, neuter, and release feral cats.
Educating the public on responsible pet ownership and referring those in need to community resources to help them keep their pet instead of relinquishing them to the local shelter is also on our agenda.
Currently all half the way home cats are in foster homes; however, we are working to establish a cat shelter where former animal control shelter cats can live in a free roaming environment until they find loving homes again.
Half the Way Home is a NO KILL, non-profit cat and kitten rescue. Kill shelters euthanize thousands of cats and kittens due to space limitations and/or funds. Please consider helping us save these animals.
