Hi guys, one of my ORICO 10 port USB hubs has just failed - the PSU has given up the ghost - is it possible to cut the plug and power it from a normal molex connection? ive seen it done with some of the cheaper 7 port hubs but i'm not sure whether to do it with this one - i have 10 USB ASIC miners connected to it...

Just cut the lead off the old PSU and patch it in to a molex connector.  Hubs either work off 5V or 12V, so just check which you need.  Red is usually 5V and yellow is 12V on a molex cable.  I usually use those freebie molex->fan cables that come with cheap CPU and case fans.

Well i managed to blow one of my old 5v hubs by pushing 12v through it :S although i now have done it Smiley and its working quite happily off my main PSU

I have found that the positive cable was the one with a line printed on it rather than text - i believe this is standard practice.
