Yes it is for real, but much misunderstood.

Ripple is actually an Internet protocol for making financial transactions.

Market cap is ninety-nine percent meaningless if you aren't correcting for total supply or actual buying depth, especially since so much of the depth is going to drop lower in the books as soon as the price comes near.
