Remotely Using Antminer S1s?

Is it feasible to remotely use multiple Antminers from different locations? The idea is that I'm buying another rig but in order to keep my home's power consumption from crossing the local baseline and getting my KW/h raised by the power company I have another rig at a friend's home on their computer and reimburse them on power. So when I wish to switch pools I can do it remotely from my PC or will I just have to text them when I want to switch?

You need to port forward to the miners lan ip. Acess the miner and change pool settings remotely.
Can be done.

yea port forward is the best/easiest way.

If you wanted to get fancy you could set up a vpn/remote access but it isn't necessary for just one unit.

Our Ants are located at our office. We regularly VPN into the office network, and can access all of our ants as if we were on the local network managing them. Very easy.

By all means port forward it... And don't bother changing the default password; I promise it will be safe.

What would be wisest is have your friend setup a Rasberry PI with SSH or something, then you could just SSH in, or use Teamviewer or something.  I wouldn't Port Forward.  If anything happened to his computers (viruses etc.) you'd probably feel pretty shitty.  Especially if he is a bitcoiner also and maybe lost some hot wallet funds because of it.

The problem with changing the password is that you will forget it.  An antminer should be root..root....a raspberry pi... pi...raspberry.. BAMT user...live

You would be floored to see how many of these I can find on the open internet....
