A very important and often overlooked measure in securing your bitcoin is keeping your bitcoin related activity secret.  If my bitcoin were being held in an insured vault requiring my identification to move it than this wouldn't be such an issue.   You are your own bank, you can hang a sign around your neck and advertise it, I wouldn't advise it.

Imagine if you buy a Bitcoin today, go public with your identity then Bitcoin coupled with the inflation of USD becomes worth 10k, 100k, one mill, your head will become more and more profitable yet your identity will be set in stone to roll back and retrieve.

i would say bitcoin businesses or people wanting to receive bitcoins from the public for legitimate reasons should be 10000000% transparent.. for everyone else sharing idea's or organising free events which does not affect the public wealth. can remain anonymous

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

Sounds like a good summary. Luckily bitcoin can do both Smiley

Well for me, I wanted to be public so people know who I am to help promote my contests and giveaways.
http://iamsatoshi.blogspot.com/

My contest has received the first attention now that I am up front with my identity. The things i have planned will require me to be public. I personally am not well off financially. I actually didn't think bitcoin would take off like it did and had some bad luck so i sold most all of what I held off at really low prices, so a bitcoin millionaire I am not. But I love the idea, and I love teaching others what i know.

After securing something solid financially for my daughters future, I won't want to get rich, I would be more of a philanthropist if I ever came into a significant amount of wealth. I think the centralization of wealth is just as damaging as the centralization of wealth creation.
I actually did the math and I gave away over $200,000 (at the all time high prices) worth of bitcoin to introduce people to it and donated to peoples projects.
Makes me a bit sick after losing my job before christmas, but whatever.  At least i learned a lot and if this is the direction the world is headed I think my head is in the right place if not anything.

Anyway. come check out the contest. i will be giving away music when and if I can get time to finish the album.

How are you "public"? All I know is your nickname and you have a blog site  Huh

I stated who I am, what I do, where I live. though that was the point of my post how do you let yourself be public without giving up too much to jeopardize your families safety.

You say:

"I agree people will probably get more donations for projects with a full transparency campaign. I am thinking of a way I can do this for myself."

I don't think a first name really counts as "full transparency" ?

As for the "I own a gun" bit, not sure its going to encourage people to line up and help you with ... whatever are doing.

Good luck anyway Smiley
