Just saw a story on the local news about thousands of men receiving a letter thru the USPS (which makes this a federal crime) claiming the sender has evidence of the victim’s cheating ways and unless the victims pays thousands of dollars IN BITCOIN, the sender will tell the victim’s wife. I guarantee the scammer has already made thousands on this scam and the USPS is just NOW inspecting. 😆😆😆 He’s a ghost.

what is this? 1960? who uses postal service to send letters anymore!
not to mention that this sounds more like a paradox to me more than anything else. they use the oldest service (Postal Service) to send a physical letter then ask for the newest technology (bitcoin) as payment. and the funny part is the extortion. i would love to see the content of that letter. what does it say? "i know what you did last summer, send me bitcoin" Cheesy

Yeah the paradox stands also for the way darkmarkets work Smiley.
Bitcoin, TOR and ....postal services and mailboxes, no fancy drones, no amazon prime.

In the article I mentioned there is a copy of the extortion letter but also a giude for buying BTC.  Grin Grin

Even if it is, I think it is still worth mentioning here because the extortionist still has not been caught(based on news I have seen so far but I might be wrong). I wonder though, how many bitcoins did he amass using the letters?

There are still quite a handful of people using postal service at this modern day. As far as I know, some banks in the Philippines(as well as the Judicial Courts) are still using their nation's postal service to send letters to their clients.

This syndicate is already existing even since bitcoin was born. Their target before was the rich and elite and they will frame up those people since they know that they will pay huge amount of money to hide the secret. With the existence of bitcoin this group of individuals also evolve and are already using cryptocurrency in their bad dealings.

Would it be pretty easy to erase/change/hide his address, wallet, etc.? Could he make it so there is no trail at all? I have no idea.
