Would like to know if anyone is using/has used this power supply: COOLER MASTER GX Series RS650-ACAAE3-US 650W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171052

Thinking about using it to run 3 x 5830s, just questioning/concerned if it will provide enough JUICE.

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure I fried one of those with 4*HD5770 (stock V, OCed to ~1000/300).
Replaced it with a AeroCool E85-700 (HEC-700TE relabel).

I'd personally go with this one:

Corsair TX-650
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020
or TX-850 if you think you may add another card.

With current coupon code and mail in rebate it's actually cheaper too.

The CoolerMaster Gold top of line ones are good but less so for the lower end models.

I read here at bitcointalk forums, someone fried a corsairTX 750w because he/she ran 3 5830's, and had to go up to an 850w PSU.

I would look into a 850w for 3 x 5830's, or higher if you plan to add more cards.

I run 2x 5830s on a CX600 and it's only pulling 360W from the wall right now. I'm going to add another soon and expect it will work but after that I'll be adding a 2nd PSU. I'm pretty surprised to hear that someone could of blown a TX750 with only 3 of them. Weird. Mine isn't even warm yet, not blowing warm air.

If you're referring to me, yeah that was a Thermaltake 750W that failed on me while it was powering two 5870s, and a single 5850. In all fairness, it actually ran fine since the beginning of June and lasted me up to that point.  I replaced it with a Corsair AX850 which now powers two 5870s and a single 5970.  So far, so good *crosses fingers*  People always say "Don't skimp on your PSU" and I'd have to agree there.  You can cut corners with memory, processor, mobo, and even run caseless to save money.  But spring for a good PSU.  I recommend Corsair's AX series, it's sexc as hell!

I have the coolermaster GX 650w. I made a thread about upgrading to 3 cards with this PSU on here a couple weeks ago actually. I'm running a 5770 and 5830 at the moment. Pulling 300w from the wall. I see no reason why adding another card would fry the PSU. It should be okay.

Link to my thread about the GX 650w with 3 cards: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38721.0

Hope this helps.

EDIT: If you do end up running 3 cards with this PSU please do let me know how it goes!

Wow, thanks for all the responses !! The motherboard I have will only support 3 cards, so adding a 4th (one reason for buying a bigger PSU) is
not really an issue. One of the reasons I was looking at this power supply is that I have a %20 off coupon that I need to use
for Microcenter and they currently have this power supply on sale: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0328088
So 69.99 - 20% + a $20 MIR makes it pretty economical. I am trying to put together a budget mining rig, but I want to use all new
parts. So far I have a mother board and ram at a current cost of around $5. My ultimate goal is 2mhash/$1 on the rig. Looks like it
is gonna be pretty hard to achieve.

I currently have a dedicated mining rig (4 x 5830s on a 1000W PSU) putting out 1.220ghash/s. Most people said a 1000W PSU was
Overkill for 4 x 5830s. So I was gonna try a 650W for 3 x 5830.

Thanks again for all the responses!

I think most people are using one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882715001&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL083011&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL083011-_-EMC-083011-Index-_-Houseware-_-82715001-L021C

I have been meaning to pick one up. This one is actually on sale for $16.95 w/free shipping, use promo code: EMCKBGK89  (Promo codes expire 09/05/2011)
