False, many merchants will accept bitcoin payments, but will need to convert to local fiat upon transaction.

If all merchants do this, why would bitcoin price go up? Wouldn't the opposite happen?

Many merchants keep the BTC and don't directly need to change them all to US currency.

The whole point of BTC is to get rid of currency after all, most businesses will only change to USD if they have to.
