got hacked like so many others probably

Hi all,

i am not new to browsing the forum here, but am new to posting.

But I wonna share a story with you guys, and I would like to see how many of you had similar experiences.


I got into the crypto world in november --> deposited cold hard € on OKpay to then deposit on BTC-E exchange.

I deposited a total of 1000€.

The days went on, and i started trading, sometimes moving some funds to other exchange sites like cryptsy or BTer.

Up until the point where i had about 3.5BTC in total. (still with only my initial investment of 1000€) (got lucky with my dogecoins)

I was on BTC-E, trading or watching the charts like i do so many hours a day, when i see someone posting a link in the trollbox.

Unnaware of what the consequences may be, i go to this link, and open something that claims to be a fiatleak program, which would let you see where all btc's are coming from and going to in real time.

I installed it, but nothing happened.  stupid as i am, i didnt think it through, and about 5 minutes later, i get this popup message on BTC-E, saying that all my LTC (about 50) had been successfully traded to BTC.

I'm like WTF!? i refresh my balance : 0

i go to my mail, because i'm supposed to confirm when i make a withdrawal.  It had already been confirmed.

Same on cryptsy : had about 0.35BTC there in value (in other coins)

Are there people who have had a similar experience?

I've started over, because i really believe in the cryptocurrency community, but still it's a lot of money that i lost here.

You installed a RAT (Remote Access Tool). All your passwords were stolen. Don't download such shitware and use 2FA in the future.

I know, that's what my conclusion was when it was all finished...

Two factor authentication is a system that generates a secondary one time code that you must input in order to complete a transaction. To use it one usually installs an app on their phone which generates these codes so even if your account is stolen unless they have access to your phone your funds are fine.

protecting my 0.1 btc that i started over with

seemed kinda overkill when i had 30 times that amount stolen by not having it sooner

oh well, it was an experience, and i've learned my lessons from it

By the way, if you're serious into day trading, get yourself an old laptop, install Linux with TrueCrypt there and use it for this purpose only.
