Finally decided to register.
I came got into BTC and PPC from DOGE, hilariously enough. I've been studying BTC and cryptocurrencies generally in anticipation of writing some sort of law journal article or brief note on the some of the interesting legal issues surrounding bitcoin, specifically government compulsion to give up private keys and other encrypted information. I spent a few bucks to buy some of the cheaper USB-based ASICs so I could get a hang of how it works. No one likes it when academics write about something they've never tried!
