You mean the "Viper".

It's tempting to take 10 (for 50.000 EUR total no upfront payment IF delivered
until March)  - having a 250MH/s scrypt cluster with 6KW power requirement would be nice.
Alas,  there are too many open questions.

* Delivery date?
* How many will they produce?
* Why do they offer only 6 months warranty if they are in the EU and MUST offer 2 years?
* Their refund policy is terrifying

So let's wait and see...

yeah its a bit risky which is why i want to do a group buy to lower everyone's risk and losses if it doesnt work out. But if it does work out the profits could potentially be very great.

Curious how your 'group buy' went and where you decided to host (what country). I purchased a number of these when they first came out in (within the first few hours) and hope it will be a profitable venture. I agree that there are a ton of question marks about when they will be delivered, production, warranty, performance, etc., but that seems to be the risk you have to take if you get in on a pre-order. My first purchase was a Butterfly Labs Mini Rig and I had to wait an incredible amount of time for that to finally arrive. Difficulty had skyrocketed, but so had BTC price. Had to take on a lot of risk, but ultimately made 270% on the investment (I actually sold and shipped my second to last rig today).

Best policy to follow is diversification, which can be hard, but you're trying to accomplish to a degree. I started by buying BTC + equipment as a way to try more than one thing. I've owned and mined with something like 13 pieces of equipment, and have pre-orders in for many more than that from KnCminer, Black Arrow, CoinTerra and now Alpha Labs as well. Even if all of these went bust, I have most of my eggs in other (non-cryptocurrency investment) baskets, and that's important. My hope is that through diversification between equipment providers, I can mitigate some additional risk as well while still making a great profit.

Interested in an update on how this is going for your group. Also, does anyone have knowledge about any duty/taxes that US residents will have to pay for equipment being shipped from Alpha or KnC, etc??

I don't know, I don't usually trust preorders or group buys where there's no real information...
