Hi,

I know there is much scepticism about using PayPal to conduct a transaction of high value, but, I have purchased high-value items using PayPal without issue over the years. I had a conversation with PayPal and this is what they advise:

Make a short video showing the following:
functioning product
any unique / identifiable serial numbers, marks, damage, scratches etc.
item being packaged into a suitable box
box being sealed
box having shipping label over the tape/seal.
box being physically passed to the courier

.... upload valid tracking data

I receive item and video the same but of course in reverse order.

My PayPal account is a good few years old now, is of course verified and I want to ship to that same verified address. In conjunction with that, I am happy to discuss any other security or validation measures with a potential vendor, to satisfy that I'll get the product I have paid for and you get the the funds.

Now, with that preamble out of the way.

I'm looking for either a 200-240Gh/s 'Chinese' Avalon miner, either as a complete system or as individual blades. The going rate seems to be $2000USD for a complete machine including PSU and case. I can obtain a case and power supply, I'm happy enough to connect them up myself. As for the 180Gh/s Antminer, these are mostly complete units so as is really.

I am in Hampshire in the UK and would like to get something sorted out sooner rather than later.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Why don't you just get some bitcoins from localbitcoins.com and then buy one in BTC?

Paypal has a terrible name around these parts, avoided by sellers and favoured by buyers.

I'm too busy to physically collect a machine and I don't really want to drive around the UK. There's no way in God's green earth I'm risking a £thousand+ with absolutely zero chance of getting my money back if the equipment doesn't arrive or is total garbage. The Bitcoin community seems to be regularly getting ripped off, some dude had it away with 500 coins, someone else lost buy not getting what they have paid for etc etc.

So, I want to pay for a product using a service which at least guarantee's that I can get my money back if it doesn't turn up. I completely understand people can get ripped off by unscrupulous buyers, but, there's no implicit trust by either the seller or the vendor. I simply can't take that risk.

What about an escrow 'paypal gift' service? Mind you, saying that, that dude who's name escapes me had it away with enough money to pay his mortgage off and possibly buy a new car, so I don't really trust the escrow-er (though the name JohnK is mentioned a lot..)
