Hi

I have a quite few good server which I don't pay anything for (!) in return of a favour I did to a data center, one of them which I'm currently testing have 2*Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2420 @ 1.90GHz so I though how can I make some money out of it, I checked the internet and I found about mining but where ever I look it says no point using CPU any more, I searched around and I found a pool and also something that can help me mine using CPU in linux, this is currently what I'm seeing

http://oi40.tinypic.com/214oww.jpg

I'm guessing 3.66 khash/s is something to do with my speed and 86.84 khash/s is something to do with the speed that the whole pool is doing, am I correct? if I am what are the chances of getting anything out of this with this rate considering the fact that it's using the whole of the resources it can on my server?

Regards

The pool is not accepting any of your shares. I am guessing your are using poolers cpuminer. I think you are missing --scrypt in your config

As far as the numbers you only get 4-5  per cpu which is right. A i5 with 4 cores i get about 12-15 total per second. I have about 400 to 500 computers running

This is how I installed it

$ wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/cpuminer/files/pooler-cpuminer-2.3.2.tar.gz
$ tar xzf pooler-cpuminer-*.tar.gz
$ cd cpuminer-*
$ ./configure CFLAGS="-O3"
$ make

and then I ran this

./minerd --url=http://api.bitcoin.cz:8332 --userpass=my.worker:password

I didn't know I was suppose to do anything else as well

I think mining BTC with CPU isn't profitable anymore but maybe mining a CPU alt-currency of good value like quark or similar can be profitable if you don't have a good GPU.

lol, OP was asking about mining with CPU.

Yes, OP should use the CPU to mine some CPU-only coin.
