Hello

I'm Werner, Community Manager at ScienceMatters AG. We're launching a blockchain version of the our science publishing platform, and I was wondering whether anyone had any advice on how I can engage people online about this?

Looking forward to talking more!

As for merit, isn't it based on your willingness to help and provide useful and trustworthy information on this forum?

Probably hire the right people for that specific purpose(Ads, SEO, PR, etc).

Also, probably post your project on the Announcements (Altcoins) and the Altcoin Discussion subforum.

You need to be careful when you discuss merit here. It is subject to a lot of abuse, and misuse can get you a bad reputation.

There is also an underworld here for ICOs, and you should be discussing them on those boards in my opinion.

Hiring the specific talent for the purpose of marketing is Key!

The following areas are what I actively look into before investing in good credible ICO's, and foremost what I look for is,

1. If its listed on ICO drops, by far the one place where you find reliable ICO's. There are some eligibility criteria to be listed there so obviously it filters out the trash.
2. How much of a online presence they have, this primarily includes Telegram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit, Slack & Medium.

3. If your ICO is good enough getting it to be reviewed by one of the top you tubers is by far the best way to bring it to the attention of the public.

4. Last not least a airdrop attracts a lot of people and brings awareness about project as well.

Hope it helps.Good luck
