I have a problem with my new Sapphire 7950.
Whatever the config I try, the computer will eventually shut down (except for very low kH/s)
600 kH/s the computer will shut down
500 kH/s will work for 1 min then the computer will shut down
400ish will work for 10-20 mins
PSU : antec truepower 2.0 550W
4 GB ram
sdk 2.9 cat 13.12
I tried multiples settings but it always eventually shut down.
any idea what the problem could be?
It could be your power supply. According to
http://www.antec.com/specs/TPII550_spe.html there are two 12 volt rails and each one can only handle 19 amps. That's 228 watts per rail. I regularly see my Sapphire 7950s pull 250-300w. If you could connect each of the 6 pin PCIe power connectors on the 7950 to separate rails on the power supply, you might be ok. There's really no way to know which wires coming out of the power supply go to which rail though.
