Over the past year or so the mainstream was in estacy as they delightfully reported the possibility of a nunclear war with North Korea, all caused by Trump. Then came the usual 'we told you so gloat' about how this Orange haired septugenarian was going to bring an end to the World as we knew it. At a point I couldn't help but imagine that some people secretly wished for the worst, as long as it brings down Trump.

It is no surprise then that there was a brief moment of confusion on how to respond without making him look good when talks were suddenly on the table with North Korea and a real, big chance for peace opened. Most mainstream outlets then took great pains letting us know why Trump should not be credited for the Korean peace efforts, downplaying the role of the US and enhancing that of her rivals.

Eventually they backpeddled again when the US took centre stage in the talks, with the possibility of a breakdown at one point on the cards. This uneasy relationship with the media has been the bane of the Trump Administration. With various attempts to paint the whole administration as one big mess, this meeting represents a real chance to seize the narrative.

If all goes well and the US is successful able to welcome Korea into the rest of the World, it would be one victory too big for the mainstream to discredit. Any attempt to ride this potential speck of history with the dust will expose them for bias even within their rows. A victory in the peace process is also significant not just as an information war, but also to show that a radical is very capable of breaking the establishment stronghold. . .
