I've bought from Overstock and TigerDirect and it went smoothly for me...

Just clicked show address; then sent the coins from my personal wallet to the address; then clicked the bitcoin button and it verified the payment.

Again, I don't have a wallet program on my laptop so the bitcoin: protocol is not installed on this machine.  I still have easy access to the bitcoins in my Coinbase.com account from here.

I happened to have just logged into Coinbase.com when I did the Overstock.com order to see how much I had in there.  They picked up that I was still logged in and asked if I wanted to pay with my logged in Coinbase account and I clicked Yes.

My wife also had no trouble with paying Overstock through Mt Gox (except that she's blonde and clicked it twice).

I just went back and bought something else on TD and used my Coinbase account this time.

I can definitely see what you mean; I sent the funds from Coinbase and then clicked the link to verify the payment but it automatically opened my Multibit wallet and prompted me for permission to auto-fill the transaction details. I clicked no, closed Multibit and went back to TD and the transaction from Coinbase was already recorded giving me the "this invoice is paid" message.

They need to change the priority order to check for payment status first before opening your Bitcoin wallet...

Its funny.  It used to be that news like this would make the price jump $200....

Now.... ?  not even a jiggle.

The boost in price from the adoption is getting balanced out by the resultant selling.

Any bitcoins used to purchase stuff at O.com/TD are being sold off semi-immediately by coinbase/bitpay/whoever so they can pay O/TD their dollars.

So the upshot is that TD's day 1 sales generated a $250,000 selloff.

Just an update.  TigerDirect appears to have stolen my bitcoins.  At least, they say no payment for my order has been made when in fact you can see here that it was:

https://blockchain.info/address/16wk1NQZJUuizMGnZe8NnpP2rN8QZHb94E

Some things I learned about their horrible process:

1. They reuse addresses (look at the address above).  Not sure if this is a BitPay thing, but why in the world would you?

2. They do the process manually.  Both phone support people said that even if the payment has been made, a person has to go through and manually update their order system.

3. The phone support person has no way of seeing the bitcoin address given for the transaction.

The phone support guy told me to wait for 3-5 MORE business days.  That puts the total at 12 days for a simple order.

Here's a chat log between me and TigerDirect (since 2 phone calls and a tweet have been ineffective at reaching anyone).  What do you think, bot or person?

Please wait while we find an agent to assist you...
You have been connected to TD.
TD: Thank you for contacting us today, I understand that you want to track your order.
Me: Yes
Me: Hello?
TD: Let me check on your order, please hold.
Me: I paid with bitcoin.
Me: I sent .0501 bitcoin to this address:
Me: 16wk1NQZJUuizMGnZe8NnpP2rN8QZHb94E
Me: as requested.
TD: Okay, please hold while I check for it.
Me: On blockchain.info, you can see that it has been paid:
Me: https://blockchain.info/address/16wk1NQZJUuizMGnZe8NnpP2rN8QZHb94E
Me: The whole world can see that I paid this.
Me: I either need the product shipped or these bitcoins returned.
Me: That was on 1/25/2014 so over 3 days ago already.
TD: Thank you for holding. Upon checking, your order has been submitted to the warehouse. Once the order shipped, tracking number will be provided.
Me: When will I be getting notified of this?
Me: Will I get an e-mail?
TD: Yes, you will be notified with the tracking information so that you can track your order.
Me: Tonight?
Me: Tomorrow?
TD: Please be informed that orders will be process within 24-48 hours.
Me: How is the weather where you're at?
TD: We are physically located here in Miami, Florida.
Me: So I still don't understand. When will this ship?
Me: I don't believe this is going to ship, because you told everyone that you immediately convert bitcoin back to cash, but the bitcoin has never moved.
TD: As per mentioned that order will be process within 24-48 hours and once the order shipped, you will be provided by the tracking number.
Me: OK, thanks.

Personally, I think it's a bot and nothing will happen.

I just purchased four 900 watt power supplies from TigerDirect with bitcoin, it went smoothly and they confirmed my order quickly.  I look forward to installing my power supplies in my miners on Friday!

What should I need a proxy. Do they only accept US customers? Or is Thailand blacklisted for some reason? We have money to shop you know Smiley

OK, as an update, without anybody being able to tell me the actual status of my order, it arrived yesterday.  Finally today, I got the tracking e-mail, after it had already arrived.

Anyway, despite never having any window into what was going on, the order was successful.

Good job, TigerDirect, but maybe give the Indians a little more training on bitcoin.

Good to see transactions are going smoothly, hopefully the media will pick up on how much extra business O/TD are getting from accepting Bitcoin, all very positive.
