"Bitcoin's micropayment feature has been a killer feature for application like spam email control." I think this has been mentioned a lot. But is there any real implementation or proposal about such idea? Also some other applications like ad-hoc network, paid wifi access, tor, etc. Is there any implementation about them?

Check out HashCash and Bitmessage.

ROI is not a verb, the term you're looking for is 'to break even'.

No there is not. Hashcash was the first proof of work application, and preceded Bitcoin. Bitmessage is a messaging system that requires proof of work in order to limit bloat (including spam). It is not directly based on Bitcoin, is not for email, and does not use micropayments.

spam control? Not that I know of. There is a messaging system called BitMessage https://bitmessage.org/wiki/Main_Page
I have heard about paid-wifi access but never looked into it.

No there is not.

I didn't say there was, I said 'check out'.
