If you're a supporter of the Massachusetts Pirate Party and a US citizen, you can now donate to them in bitcoins.  Grin

Responding to an inquiry from the local Pirate Party, the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance states that political parties are allowed to accept donations in Bitcoin. The approval, which is welcomed by many Bitcoin supporters, comes with strict guidelines.

Nothing that drastic... Grin but they are for copyright and patent law reforms. Or as wikipedia puts it:

Quote
Pirate parties support civil rights, direct democracy and participation in government, reform of copyright and patent law, free sharing of knowledge (open content), information privacy, transparency, freedom of information and network neutrality.

Also, there are Pirate Parties in several dozens of countries, a couple with official positions already. So, depending on where you are from, you might already have one near you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Global_atlas_of_identified_Pirate_Parties.svg.

I'm sure all pirate parties accept BTC!

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

Well, probably... but you know, bureaucracy. Tongue

Besides, it might be a good idea to always keep track of where the money comes from, particularly in the case of the large political parties; so at least you know who is screwing you over. Roll Eyes
