Hi

been having some issues after installing new firmware for my S9 13.5T and a failed fan

firstly the temps went way up from this, so i tried cleaning the cards and one chip+heatsink fell off, so 1 board down, until i can get it reattached by a pro

but

had some issues getting working with 2 boards

for some reason the 2 replacement fans i bought do not register on the GUI as spinning although it very much is and not from the force of the other

fan3 and fan6 where the two working ports

but was getting error saying fan5: fatal error

fan3 still shows no new measurment, i gotta feeling the errors are stopping the hashing  (durrr)

THE BEST results i can seem to get now is the unit booting up and it registers the two boards fine, get a quick hash and then the red lights are out and its hashing at 4.3k GH/S(ideal)     0 (ZERO) GH/S(RT)

these things are built like xmas lights expect bit harder to switch out bulbs Sad

First: if an S9 doesn't sense both fans during startup, it will shutdown or just go into an endless test loop.

Obviously not all fans are created equal.  If its not sensing the speed there is likely an incompatibility.  The S&H is high, but Bitmain sells replacement fans for a reasonable price.

Mined for a living since 2017.  Dabbled for years before that.

thx for the reply....

i gotta few different makes as well as ones the same but having issues with them all Sad

i think i might have some errors due to faulty chips tho, with two remaining working boards i both get Asic[29] & [57] with rather high values, odd that its same chips?

also 63 chips per board but seems like on 62 are being recognised on both, im out of warranty too now, seemed to happen just less than 1 month after it expired too Sad

for anyone who is reading, dont update with bitmain firmware!

There are some miners complaining here the same issue as yours and I think to install the old firmware version would save your time to fix this issue.

Anyway, you can also check this guide https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1526215.0and you can check the compatible model fan to your antminer s9 because if you put a wrong fan model it will result of error or the miner will hardly to detect your fan because of incompatibility issue but try to roll back or install the old firmware (November firmware should work).
