We'll I don't think apple would literally engage into cryptocurrency since the market is unstable. The market moves fast and has unstable price that could affect their wealth once the market drops. So a second-hand seller that accept crypto in exchange of apple products is the main story of the article.

This is really expected, most of the big companies will sooner or later keep up with our future which is the cryptocurrency. Also, this is their competitors are also going to cryptocurrency which they want to compete with them so that they don't get behind when their competitors.
