I did a fresh install of windows 8, followed by the catalyst 13.4 drivers.
cgminer 3.0.1.

running cgminer -n would show the Juniper device (5770), but when attempting to run cgminer to actually start mining, it would crash and give an exception in faulting module amdocl.dll

If anyone else is having this issue-
the fix was to use 4 different OpenCL dll files from a known good working computer:
File version 10.0.1084.4
Product Name: OpenCL 1.1 AMD-APP (1084.4)

I replaced amdocl.dll file size 28,732,928 bytes and OpenCL.dll (50,176 bytes) in the syswow64 folder.
I replaced amdocl64.dll file size 34,518,016 bytes and OpenCL.dll (54,784 bytes) in the system32 folder.

I've uploaded the dll files to 4shared
http://www.4shared.com/zip/M5RSKSNt/opencl.html

If this helped you, feel free to throw me LTC 0.01 or whatever just so i know this was helpful LQNaaAqWc4SB7uwr53o1J4hZBt2wUxZAsK

Having a similar issue. I reuploaded to Mediafire for those like me who don't like 4shared.

My issue is more intermittent, but hoping this resolves it.

Unless your using this for gaming/everyday, which is understandable, Linux is the way to go.  Especially if you have a bunch of miners.

I have not had luck with Windows 8 and cgminer and the 13.4 drivers...  i tried it on my home machine, gave up for now.

I had the same issues, with two 7970's, I downgraded back to 13.1, problem solved.

Here's what I did, because Windows 8 was not happy about going backwards.

First I did the normal cata uninstall
Then using driver Fusion, I did a full clean up of all ATI AMD components. reboot.
Install the 13.1 drivers, and Ill guess you'll get an install warning like I did, if you read into the XML you'll find that everything but the drivers installed correctly.

To fix this, I went into where the installer unpacks (Typically c:\AMD\Driver_Version),
Then into Packages > Drivers > Display > W86A_INF, and find C8148486.inf (you just need the .inf, if your name differs).
Right click on it, and choose install.

Give it about 3-5 minutes, your screen should flash, and you should no longer have yellow flags on your video cards, and cgminer / bitminer should no longer crash.

I've been fighting with this for about 2 weeks now, short of reinstalling Win8, this was the only way I could find to get 13.1 running again.

Guys,

In further testing, try to skip the Fusion step, I believe it may have trimmed a little more then it should.  I just noticed my power plans in Win8 are completely screwy now.  It could be completely unrelated, but if you use Fusion, use with caution (This machine's Win8 install has been pretty dorked up from Dell).

Thanks SuperLeroy!

I got it working with Windows 8.1, Catalyst 13.11 beta8 AND the files you provided.

Super late edit: my original issue was the cgminer version provided with GUIMiner, 3.7.2 works fine with Catalyst 13.11.

Thanks SuperLeroy!

Your files worked for me too, 13.11 Beta Catalyst drivers and GUI miner are now working for me.

The error i was getting was inside GUI Miner Console like the following:

Verification failed, check hardware! (0:1:Cayman, )
Verification failed, check hardware! (0:1:Cayman, )
Verification failed, check hardware! (0:1:Cayman, )

Wow. I am very glad to see this helped. someone actually sent me a bit of scratch as well, which prompted me to check this thread.
Certainly reinforces my desire to post any fixes or genuinely helpful suggestions. Glad this worked out for some people.
I guess the drivers mentioned in this thread are woefully out of date, but the concept is probably still sound.
