Most forum members need assistance to learn

Cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology are undoubtedly the flavour of the month in the 21st century. Naturally, it is quite difficult to catch up with technology when you didn’t grow up with it. Just like the older generation may find navigating social media taxing, understanding bitcoin "properly" is not an easy task. A forum like bitcointalk could be a good place to learn since there are loads of experienced people in crytpo here. Unfortunately, learning from bitcointalk has become very tedious. Higher ranked members complain of not being able to award merits because of the numerous "shit posts" hovering around here.

People who introduce newbies here would normally "brand" the forum as a money-making machine. We join bounty campaigns and try to keep up with the required number of posts and never get to learn at all.
I believe bitcoin does not depend only on whales and big companies to survive(These stakeholders may be essential price determiners though). What if we are able to get the concept of bitcoin and how it works right into the minds of the middle and lower income earners? After all, they form the majority of every country's population. Each forum member could be pivotal in this respect by understanding bitcoin and cryptocurrencies enough, and explaining this wonderful technology in very simple words to people in this domain. Forum members can be more helpful than social media in terms of broadcasting bitcoin to the world if most of us really get to understand cryptocurrencies quite well.
The merits system introduced in the forum attests to the fact that even some higher ranked members haven't learned at all. It won't be shocking to see a senior member fumble to explain a question such as: "How safe is bitcoin?" in very simple terms to woo a new person to the bitcoin community.

In my opinion, I suggest that well-experienced members should start creating threads that would challenge members to contribute constructively to the forum. For example: A thread could be created and limited to a certain number of participants who would be engaged in a good discussion. It could even be a thread directing forum members to a a good source of information where they could read and be quizzed later. Apparently, it is mostly some higher ranked members that could reduce the number of "shit posts" in the forum. I believe there are people here who are willing to contribute to very good discussions on the forum, or even go the extra mile to read a suggested post by an experienced forum member(Some higher ranked members may be doing this but their posts may be flanked by "shit posts").

Long story short, I would suggest that experienced members in this forum "take over" the starting of interesting threads and use that as a means to teach other forum members. Experience is the best teacher, not books...

I've been here a short while. Over time I have used this opener " well I'm no genius" a little less. That was my segway into either stating what I think/know and opening myself up for learning. Overall you can find everything you need here if you look and search around. Unfortunately most people want to be spoonfed something instantly, rather than put in the effort of looking.  

Imagine if they had to use a library and read an entire book... scary.

The problem is that most of the Newbies here are only becoming concerned with learning enough to get Merits and get a bump in pay for the next SIG campaign. They actually put more effort into "learning" to game the merit system than they do learning the ins and outs of crypto.

You are right about how Shitposters are not limited to Newbies, you can see a ton of accounts of all ranks who are garbage and have been suckling at the advertisers teets for years, because it was easy to do. They will continue to enjoy that opportunity until they do something to get their account tagged. Consider it early Bitcointalk  adoption.

I will try and update references for you but members like Pugman, and Jet Cash do have some threads out there promoting learning in the ways that you describe, I'm sure there are others I just can't think of them.

JetCash There is a link in the Signature that is helping members improve there english to contribute meaningfully to forum discussions.

Beginners & Help While sometimes overun, it still has useful information. Some elder members also frequent there to try and help.

If you look around you will see that there are a lot of posts being created/replied to by knowledgable members they are just in more technical areas or boards that have not been inviting to shitposting in the past.

As far as it being up to the senior members to try and lift up the forum to their level, I don't think it is, unless they want to. They shouldn't have to go out there and create a topic to try and drum up reasopnable debate unless it's something they want to talk about. I think it is up to the Members who want to learn to research, and then ask questions either to clarify for themselves, or ask if they don't know.

Other helpful users are TMAN, iasenko, mdayonliner, hugeblack, Lauda, etc.
You can use the forum search function to find their topics and threads, then learn from them.

Almost all board has pinned post to learn anyone can check those post. Also then can learn from the forum. Hence the forum was created to help crypto lover.
