often rumored to be satoshi himself, he has been behind some big things in bitcoin (mtgox) - and beyond (ripple).

"Come see.

When I sold Mt. Gox a few years ago, Bitcoin was trading at less than a dollar. Today Bitcoin exists in a new environment. Mt. Gox is struggling to keep up. Now, I am building something that will be better for Bitcoin and better for you.

I'm looking for alpha testers.

you know, with this whole transaction malleability mess bitcoin is in could hurt it in it's price (its value), and in people's perception of it (its possible future value).  this is pretty good timing for jed as he might have something really rad cooking up under all that secrecy. if i were to speculate, it could 'save' bitcoin.

i believe it could be something big.

You know, between edonkey, gox, and ripple, I use to believe he was Satoshi.  But, idk, "secretbitcoinproject"?  I mean, it would have to be sardonic to call it that if you were satoshi, and it doesn't strike me as being in his humor profile.

Who knows though.

I mean, I can't imagine that its not an exchange... He clearly is stating that Gox is past its sell by date and something other is needed.

That's a silly rumor. Bitcoin is awesome, and MtGox and Ripple are shit.

If you aren't the sole controller of your private keys, you don't have any bitcoins.

Gox wasn't awesome and then went to shit when Karpeles took over. It was always a shit hacked together site with little regard to security.

Exactly. When you look at the security involved with Bitcoin and then look at something like Gox, the last thing you would think is that the same person coded both projects.

I think people are more impressed with edonkey then they were with gox... edonkey was a really innovative bit of code.
