It was a TV program about owls and I think it was North America. 1280 acres is the hunting area of an owl.

1280 acres is some 5 miles long and 5 miles wide.

Damn that sounds insane. Something really wrong was happening there. They must've had perfect conditions to multiply. Interesting story though.
