Hi everyone

I'd like to start mining Litecoin with  Sapphire Radeon R9 290. The problem is that I'm hardware illiterate, so I was wandering if anyone could suggest what is the minimum of configuration to support this card. I'm trying to keep it low cost except for the GPU.
Any advice is highly appreciated.

Hi,

Here is a list of configurations for scrypt mining. Mess around with your settings to see which one gives you the most hastrate.

I think you are asking what additional hardware you would need to buy in addition to an R9 290 to be able to mine?

If the machine is ONLY for mining:
- AMD AM3+ Motherboard - I am a fan of ASROck 970 Extreme 4s, but there are many options
- AMD Sempron 145 CPU
- 4 gig of DDR 3 RAM
- USB Stick  (to run BAMT - otherwise a hard drive to install Linux, Windows etc)
- Power Supply.  Your 290 is going to pull about 300 - 350 watts, so you probably need a 500 - 600 watt PSU, if not more
If you plan to add additional cards later, consider that when sizing your PSU.
