Because all I had to do was download the latest version of java.

Then realize that the browser wouldn't admit that I had done so, attempt to download a plug-in for chrome, fail, give up, start firefox,

Then try again, and then follow the instructions on the NXT site, java -jar start.jar is very succinct as is "Hint: Create a batch file to run this command." No need for any links to walkthroughs or anything.

Search online for the error I get in command prompt about not know what the fuck java is supposed to mean. Copy file folders from x86 into just windows,

Type in the commands in the properties for the computer as the person on youtube recommends and fail,

Make a blank bat file in notepad save as all file types and name it something.bat with the "java -jar start.jar" as the only thing in there, put that in the /nxt nested folder, which of course does fuckall,

Then delete java, restart computer, reinstall java, try the one click nxt intall method (which won't recognize java, then won't install it because it's already there) and then FINALLY FUCKING FLAME OUT ALL OVER BTCT!

Problem solved now I have much many NXT and it's so FUCKING EASY!

you do know there are clients OUT now for nxt that make this process MUCH easier...right?? other than the original NRS. You've got Solaris, dotNxt, ClieNxt, for example. Much nicer/cleaner looking IMO  Tongue

http://www.nxtcoins.nl/showcasing-nxt-clients/

Also if your .bat file doesn't recognize Java even though its installed. All you have to do was copy the java.jar(I believe it was .jar) file from the Programs folder into the folder you had the NXT files in, not needing to go through all that hassle you went through, and it should work  Wink

it is amazing how programmers never seem to think of a non-programmer when they should be recruiting them before launch to make sure it CAN be adopted. NXT can't yet. Too complicated. I'm no dummy, but just not a programmer in any way.

Yeah, I'm not a programmer at all (not even that tech-savy or the 'nerdy' type) and I figured it out months ago with the old NRS client. It's really not that hard/complicated, and it's getting easier still.

wish I was a programmer lol. Would be getting paid nicely...

but im not...I failed my ICS Programming class and struggle with many things that deal anything over calc (other than business math  Grin)...I'm good in business classes though. wish I could have passed programming but can't get my head around all that stuff...  Cry

I read the instructions, double clicked the .jar file, opened my browser and there it was. This was on windows 8.
