How to use Ignore?

While reading some few topics and replies today I see that some members are talking about ignoring someone post or ignoring the particular user is there a thing like that in this forum or it is just a literal ignore?

Check the left-bottom part of someone's post. You will see an "Ignore" hyperlink which will put the user on your ignore list. You can also add/remove users manually by putting their username in this list.

When someone is on ignore, all you will see is "This user is currently ignored" instead of his actual post.

Ohhhh I see there's still a lot to learn in this forum my 8 days, 9 hours and 17 minutes is still not enough, last question will the person know that I ignore his post or the user itself?
