As for me, masternodes is a much better solution because you do not have to buy that equipment that requires a place, a lot of energy, and endless improvement. Also, it looks like nowadays only very rich people may mine and in fact, they control the bitcoin. That is why I would rather choose some other cryptocurrency where I can become a member that has controlling power (that what happens when you buy masternodes).  Another point is pollution and ecology. It is quite sad that in 21 century we still do not care about the environment when it goes about big money. Finally, I do not believe that bitcoin would lead for long. Because whoever controls it (or not), they do not care about future.
