So I have an XFX Black Edition 5970 which won't run OpenCL on one core. It always gives me a Verification Failed, Check Hardware error. Even with different drivers it fails to work. I'm thinking about putting into a gaming machine for Battlefield BC2.

Does anyone know if I can run normal games on it? Or is there any way to check if the core has gone bad, or to check if DirectX or OpenGL will run on it?

Try it? Seriously, if it's a hardware problem, we can't help you, as we cannot know the situation of the card

It's XFX! If there is not a remedy for it, they have lifetime warranties!
