Just found this thread of some fresh and current public perception

Isn't bitcoin a different currency? So how would you spend $100 in bitcoins?

If a bitcoin is worth $624.25 USD, wouldn't $100 in bitcoins be less than one?

So you stopped to educate them, right? Or at least pointed them to pages that gave the answers to their questions?

Hey - I'll tell you what though - it certainly got them thinking about BTC  Wink

A few more offers like that and people will soon start working the whole thing out - they aren't that stupid.

So -  who is gonna subsidise a few BTC Special Offers then ?

I'm not the one mocking normal people for being normal people. I suspect if those people came here they would have a lot more things to mock.

The average joe doesn't even know how to research a simple topic, sadly.
At least they're asking themselves what BTC is.

It's a start to mass adoption. More online stores offering discounts the better.

Read through the thread a bit, it's getting people interested and fence-sitters who've heard about it are finally taking the leap... very cool!

Places like Coinbase, while perhaps not perfect for the BTC experts are great for newbies. With anything in the worl, the easier it is to enter the more "normal" public you'll get on board. Does anyone really think the normal joe is going to deal with waiting 12+ hours for their wallet to sync, let alone understand that concept. It's all about ease. A few things that would help even more is Apple not being so douchey with apps like Coinbase, because again the normal user isn't going to want to deal with crazy BTC address and QR codes, having an app on as many platforms as possible that anyone can just open with a QR and scan to pay or scan to receive is key.

typical elitist remarks from internet messageboard posters or actually anyone in general who has an interest or knowledge in some area that a lot of people lack... to them it is second nature and they are baffled at how hard it is for someone else to pick it up.... the unwashed masses, yada yada...

I'm glad to see a promotion like this. Anything to gets people to ask "What's bitcoin? How can I get one?" is a win in my book.

It's our responsibility to educate the masses and point them to resources to learn more about digital currencies. Dismissing them as "clueless" is not the correct way to foster community.

I'll be creating an account on that forum and answering questions to the best of my ability. I'd hope there are others who will do the same.
