I realised recently that the americans, today constantly are cursing like the communist russians or the other citizen of communist countries did, before the fall of the soviet union and communism,

while the cursing of the russians declined after the fall of the soviet union, society got a complete new start.

americans cursing a lot nowadays might be indeed an indication for the comming dollar collapse

check this video, where americans curse, on an unexpected situation, and had to edit their video with beep tones to not sound ridiculous to the world public.

what do you think?

I think americans curse just as often as most european cultures (I dated an american for about 3 years) I don't think it would really be much of a difference as you are claiming...

I don't think US Americans much care what anyone thinks of their cursing except maybe their mothers, and even then the mothers might be just as bad.

It seems like this is something that is so hard to measure. How many people on this forum actually speak Russian and were around in 1990 to measure the levels of profanity? I find that American television at least is still quite tame. Most channels censor the "harshest" profanity. In any formal situations, it's almost always taboo for Americans to use profanity. I find that there other culture that swear a lot more. I have studied a little bit of Portuguese and it seems like people in Brazil are much more accepting of profanity.

Being a linguist, I believe every language and culture has something to offer in this regard, but we cannot make our judgments based on one video, can we? It depends...

Check out the video below from the Economist:

i think it got really much worse, russians at 1990s end of soviet union cursed as much as the americans do today, but today russians curse almost no more, similar like americans in 1990s
