As the topic suggests, I was just thinking about all that hoopla surrounding the TradeFortress empire that went down at the end of last year.  There were many thread of accusations and tabulations about what was owed and to whom.  Now that the topic is not so hot, I'm just wondering how everything ended up shaking out.  Did he ever pay back his customers?  Is he still active in the community?

No he didn't pay back.

Yes he may still be active in this community, so be careful.

I am reasonably confident that he no longer posts under the name "TradeFortress" but would be surprised if he is gone.

I don't think everyone got all their coins back.  I think many, maybe even most, got some coins back.  There is still an active scammer thread.

Nope, not even close to all that he owed after inputs.io went down. I'd be extremely surprised if he even paid back half of what he stole and even then he probably made a killing off of it back when BTC was much higher.

No, I didn't get anything back. I didn't fall in the group with over 1 BTC in my account so I was basically screwed. I never quite understood that logic. Probably most people had less than 1 BTC in there, so he figured he wouldn't pay that group back!  Roll Eyes

He offered me a fraction of the worth using wonky fantasy math, and then disappeared.

Although it was less discussed, his other service coinlenders.com also went down with a lot lot lot of customer coins. He disappeared with many thousands of coins, scattering a few crumbs to people on his back to sow confusion and buy time for his escape.
A long con well executed.

Whoa, I'll be careful then!

So from this small and unscientific sample, there seems to be strong consensus that he just took the money and ran.  I guess that's probably the case because if he was interested in rebuilding his reputation (and had legitimately been hacked) then he would probably still be posting on here and slowly paying people back.

Anywhoo, luckily I only used inputs to withdrawl from coinchat and never kept the money in there so I was lucky on this one.
