The market has been rebounding even before this announcement was made...

This news is just constructive interference as it resonates with the market's temporary upward trend.

I had my finger on the buy button at $411 last night with CoinBase but I feel like the FUD isn't even half way finished yet. I could be wrong but we're not out of the woods yet...
I agree with pungopete468 on this. BTC prolly into $300's before rebounding to full, IMO.

Lost your life savings? Lost everything??? visit the Office in japan Mtgox. this is who you should look for Founder/Ceo of MtGox

yeah the guy responsible for mtgox and shutting down the website and permanently shutting down your account.  "Means" you can't get it back unless government steps in and requires Mtgox to Reopen the website to return the money to everyone which i highly doubt the government will do. lol

How idiotic and funny.

All of my company's CryptoCurrency Inc's Bitcoins are still in MtGox Sad

It will be interesting to watch the trickle down impact of Gox imploding.  I have a mining company where I sell mining contracts, none of the coins we mined were stored at Gox or any exchange.

-Store your future coins offline
-Encrypt your wallet
-If you want to keep coins online for exchanging, keep them diversified in multiple exchanges.

My Bitcoin advise that I tell everyone:
-Bitcoin (or any cryptocurrency) is very high risk, it's a new market that is going through growing pains.
-Trust no one with your bitcoins
-Keep your ratio of cryptocurrency to fiat under 20% for high risk, 5% for lower risk.

Sorry to everyone that lost BTC with Gox, hopefully the community will keep Mark K. from opening another cryptocurrency business ever again. There's no accountability with Gox, which is tragic.

Correct, but most people will never get it. I guess we need regulation for big btc companys or we will have 10 mtgoxs

The arrogance, the immaturity, incomprehensible statement - this is what happens when multi-million dollar financial firms run by kids (not that some adults are much more responsible). Oh, well...

Not a hint on their clients funds - sorry for those of you who lost your money there... Personal wallets, cold storage or not - this was not your fault.

After Gox, I would be surprised to see any exchange with a lot of currency stored on it.

It is a matter of little time that Google first results for the word scam will be all major bitcoin sites, the foundation being the number 1.

This development isn't more than an hour old. The market bottomed 10 hours ago at low $400's and has been following an upward direction since then. This announcement has no substance other than "Hey, the guy with the admin password is still alive!"

I'm reading hopeful posts about Gox rebounding (desperation) and I'm inclined to believe that the hope expressed here is translated into the market in some manner.

For everyone that has bitcoins on gox, I sincerely hope they get back online and are able to withdraw funds. After that, I'd like to see gox gone for good. They have done too much negativity towards bitcoin in general. Time for them to take their ball and go home.

I wouldn't trust that fat bastard to hold my bag of cookies, not to mention serious money. Let's hope people learn from it and never allow Karpeles or his friends to run a scam like that.

I did buy some but I have the same feeling as you, it could go a lot lower before it rebounces; it could also rebounces to new high but I doubt that it does right away

Let's pile up some money to buy cheap Smiley

One of the biggest exchanges turned out to be an incompetent bunch of losers and we are still here, holding the coins. Cheesy Bring on the FUD!
