Apparently, not that much. Just look at the last US elections. Celebrities and people who we thought have huge influence on people failed to spread the word because Trump still ended up being elected. So idk if it will still make a difference this year, but the social media is a nice platform to get people to talk and take action.

Exactly. And yet people still claim that same social media influenced the elections. Rather than admit that people are capable of thinking for themselves and decided to choose something else than others may have wanted them to choose.

Social media will always have a strong influence on any country's elections because people like the virtual world. The thing with social media is that we like to enjoy the freedom to connect to anyone from anywhere in the world and talk about ideas (see how popular VR headsets are becoming), but we must be careful on the type of news that are exchanged so that we don't make decisions that will go against our own interests.
