Hi guys,

I can't make my MSI 970A-G43 work with 4x Sapphire 7950. I've tried varies of risers 1x-1x and 1x-16x and Windows 7 x64 doesn't see more than 2 GPUs.

I turned all of the unnecessary gear in bios. I am using 1600W PSU. I also tried to change PCI latency, empower the risers and I checked the system with Sempron 145 and Athlon x2 I am using now - nothing has helped, W7 sees only 2 GPUs.

Is it possible to make this mobo work with more than 2 GPUs?

Best regards,
LG

Your best option is using Linux Xubuntu intead of W7 wich is known for its difficultuy handling more than three video cards. You can find a desrciption of installing Linux on cryptobadger:

I have that same Motherboard and I haven't been able to get more than 2 GPUs detected in windows.

I should have some time this weekend to use a combination of USB risers, powered risers, shorting pins on PCI-E slot, and multiple configurations to see if it's possible.... I've read somewhere that you need to update to the latest BIOS and enable IOMMU.  I have like 5 of these boards, so getting 4 GPUs to work would be very good...  Let's both work on it and get it figured out.

The issue is unrelated to the OS.... Windows 7 will support 4 GPU no problem.. The issue is getting the motherboard to recognize cards installed in the PCIe slots.

Enabling the IOMMU in BIOS worked for me with the same MOBO. But I couldn't find the IOMMU! So for anyone else looking... It's under the OC Menu, then look at CPU features.

That didnt work for me. I ended up RMA the board. I have a gigabyte coming in today.

Thanks for the reply though.
