Cryptocurrency is forever changing and evolving, and that is the same for different sectors within crypto, for example, crypto mining. Ethereum has been contemplating moving to ProgPoW a new mining algorithm designed to even the playing field between ASIC miners and GPU miners for over a year now, the question remains will ETH ever adopt ProgPoW? Monero is working on its own solution to the mining dilemma and are contemplating not only eliminating ASIC miners from their network but also GPU miners. Some other cryptocurrency projects that had planned to have scheduled hard forks which deter ASIC miners and allow more common people using GPUs to mine their cryptocurrency AHEM GRIN / GRINCOIN .. have decided to no longer pursue this route and embrace the grincoin ASIC miners being produced. Some other smaller projects such as ZelCash are exploring their own unique mining algorithm routes with a different version of the Equihash mining algorithm, their variation they are dubbing ZelHash is not infested with ASIC miners.
