Charity the old way and charity the blockchain way
In our current regulated society charities have to jump through hoops, get past red tape and meet certain criteria to even be able to call themselves a charity, now this may have been initially set up to protect the genuine charities out there and to ensure no one is taking advantage of a person’s kind nature by declaring themselves a charity but in essence are just defrauding people of their money. The blockchain can now change all of this.

With Soup Tokens blockchain we have 100% transparency and we can see all the donations coming in and we can even see where each donation actually ends up. There is no need for a third party to be involved to charge the charity fees and unnecessary costs.
The platform will be able to show what donations have been received and where those donations have been sent. All costs of the business will be handled via the blockchain to ensure complete openness.
The Soup Token concept
Giving money to good causes the traditional way leaves a lot to be desired. Handing over pounds, dollars, shillings and cents is costly due to fees that can be incurred during the transfer of money. Traditional charities have huge set up costs, rents, mortgages, insurances, fees, charges, salaries etc. Couple this with the new line of street charity canvassers who stop people in the street and convince them that if they donate £10 per month it will help a worthy cause when in fact that street canvasser typically works for a sales company and is on a minimum of around £10 per hour.
Furthermore, the sales company that instructs the street canvasser then proceeds to take anything from 50%-100% of the initial donation given by the kind natured person in the street who just wants to help and feel like they are helping solve a problem and alleviate someone’s suffering in the world via their donation. The truth is that only around 10% of the actual donations given are eventually spent on the problem they are trying to solve. It Is highly publicised that the CEO’s of some charities are on huge six figure salaries, as much as £400,000 in some cases. It is safe to say that the public’s trust in traditional charities is at an all time low.
The tokens will be eth tokens so will be tradeable on other exchanges. However, our platform and project will pledge to always keep a set percentage of tokens on the exchange at all times to maintain liquidity.
Traditional giving is a highly ineffective and even more so in respect of tackling the actual issue.
We intend to change that.
Feed the hungry
The first milestone on our road map is to feed the homeless and hungry people in our inner-city areas. In this day and age, it is unacceptable to learn people are still going hungry. We have a proactive no nonsense approach which will help tackle this problem.
The beautiful streets of our inner cities are littered with people with drug or alcohol dependency issues. Who then in turn beg to get by and kind natured passers-by tend to give what they can. It is widely accepted that giving money to an individual with dependency issues is probably not a good idea because the money is likely to be spent on their dependent substance. However, the people that give money to those less fortunate hold out hope that the money will perhaps be spent on a meal or at least something less harmful. We give and donate what change we have in our pockets to try and make a small difference to the life of someone less fortunate than us.
The problem is this is only fuelling a dependent cycle of people on the street who consciously or not can fuel whatever habit they have purely by being a generous person.
We aim to tackle this head one and disrupt this cycle. We will give people a way to give, a way to donate, a way to feed the hungry whilst having the peace of mind that they are not adding to that person’s habit or even putting that person’s life in danger by somehow giving them the resources to buy the substances that they may have issues with.
With our smart giving system, we have a world in which people can donate once a week, once a month or once every so often.

Users will be able to donate fiat currency, cryptocurrency, store vouchers, gift cards, even clothes and essentials via our worldwide local platform.
The problem with giving to a traditional charity is once your money is spent, it’s gone. So, a new donation is needed to replace the last one so a marketing and a sales drive is needed all costing money but producing enough donations (in theory) to enable the charity to keep giving. What if we could give once or every now and then but our investment kept giving?
With the dramatic rise of the cryptocurrency market we believe it could serve as a perfect donation engine which could be used to triple our donations meaning we could help up to 5 times as many people with the same amount of money.
Smart Donation
Soup Tokens can be purchased through the use of our mobile app platform or online for £1. Once the user has purchased the Soup Token it is then either stored on their wallet on their mobile phone or laptop so that the user can then print actual Soup Tokens (please see below) which can be handed to the homeless or hungry directly.
Or, the user can choose to have their Soup Token donation distributed on their behalf through one of our selected charity partners big issue, food bank one, food bank 2, who will distribute any amount of tokens to any amount of people you wish. The user can even choose to have the tokens distributed to a specific individual or maybe even a family with young children living below the poverty line.
The Soup Token
Soup Token will print small till receipt type voucher slips featuring our brand logo and a simple QR code with a line or two of texts specifying the amount on the voucher etc.
These tokens can be kept in a user wallet in their app or distributed between our network of charities and givers on the platform.
Using our relationships with such organisations as the Big Issue and (charities) these slips will be distributed to the people in need.
A person or a family can then exchange these vouchers for either a lunch meal deal at one of our participating retailers or for some canned food from one of our associated food banks around the country.
These will just need to be scanned in via the merchant’s wallet. Once the merchant has these coins they can then simply use our buy back system (or exchange) to get paid on the coins they took as payment for food.

The problem stems much deeper than we see on the surface and there is a perception that if we can give the less fortunate some of their dignity back then the road to recovery becomes much easier. Something as simple as having a meal every day will go a long way to restoring a person’s dignity and will also give them faith in other people as a whole.
