What is difference in privilege of banned user vs Guest user in this forum?

 I heard that banned user are able to login but not able to send the PM and write in this forum.

It makes me wonder is there is any difference between guest user and banned user?  Why forum allow login to them?

The banned users can access their PM/post history if they need. If you have valuable information in from of PMs you can still retrieve it.

When you're banned: You can see people's trust ratings, have read only access to hidden boards(Investigations), retrieve information from PMs, and see merit histories. You can't send PMs or make posts.

IIRC, for some user, he was a VIP, and theymos had banned him, and completely blocked access of bitcointalk when he tried logging in. As in, he couldn't even see what the other banned users normally would.

Guests can only read stuff, back in the day, they were allowed to post as Anonymous. Guests can't see trust ratings/history or merit history, and can't see Investigations board.

There is lots of different with guest user and ban user. One of most common thing that guest are not able to visit all board. Like Investigation, I think there are more. Others different already described by pugman.

Banned user will still have their avatar and personal text I think but their signatures will be removed completely.And I saw in some screenshots of banned users they still have merit button in that place but they can't be able to send merits since theymos has fixed it already but the guest user can only see the posts number with hastags.

I got it now banned account is account with no write access.
I logged out and tried as guest, The first thing I noticed , I can not search the members here as guest, I think banned account can search.
