The problem is a lot of altcoin exchanges exist which only carry one or several altcoins you are interested in, but not the one you really care for.  Basically there's several exchanges you may need to use if you're into several altcoins.

I like CryptoRush a lot, but they don't carry my favorite coin now (Credits) so I'm not using them currently.

I'm playing around with other exchanges now.  That's the problem though.  You may like a new coin, and the exchange you use doesn't or won't carry it and you have to move on.

Depend what altcoins you want to trade.

Exchanges have got different currencies in their offer.

I am trading only @Vircurex @Bter and science now I had no problems.

I do not think they are "best" but good enough till now for me (Europe).

Everything depends what you want to buy/sell
What is your location.
And perhaps few other

It is impossible to say "best exchange is MtGox (Tongue)" or some other exchange.

It depends... as I say.

Best advice is to pick the exchange that has the coins you want.  Be careful to not leave too high a balance on any exchange as they seem to be having a lot of problems as they are huge targets for thieves.  Good Luck!
