Consequences of BCH not Splitting

I was sending BSV but both BCH and BSV got detected and on individual explorer it is showing that BCH is sent and BSV is sent. When I enquired about it they said me that it is because probably I had not split my BCH. And the other suggested it is because of Replay Protection

To understand what is all this I explored and got some medium links to read and they mentioned it is to avoid replay attack one more new term. Popping up of new topics is getting me more confused. The only thought that I got was that I could find an answer at Bitcointalk. If anyone if you have faced such thing please let me know how you handled it.

As the address I deposited was BSV address the address holder says he has BSV but from my end both is deducted. What exactly will happen in such case. Will the address holder be able to access both BCH and BSV or he only gets BSV?

If neither he gets the funds nor me then what is the use? Does it mean the funds are lost for ever?
Can the wallet from where I sent funds can help me?
Can the address holder extract and refund me the funds?
If that is the case that I have not yet split my funds how do I do it now? Can I do it now or the train has already left?

At the end I would also want to know that the huge terms  replay attack and Replay protection mean and how they both are connected with this case. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Bch and bsv do not have repay protection (shitcoins).

To split your balance, this is procedure

About replay protection:

There is no replay protection between the BCH (ABC) and the BSV chains. This means that, unless you properly "split" your coins, transactions you make with one of those coins will also be made on the other.

Sending unsplit BCH will result in the same amount of BSV being sent to the same address (and vice-versa). The receiving wallet may not be prepared to accept BSV into their address, so there is a possibility of loss of BSV coins. This is not an issue specific to Coinomi, as any other wallet you use is under the same risk.

How to split coins:

Splitting is only necessary if you had a positive BCH balance on November 15th 2018. If you received either BCH or BSV after that date, they are most likely already split.

Receive a new deposit into your BCH wallet of BCH that is already split. The easiest way is to receive BCH from an exchange.
After transaction from (1) is confirmed, copy your current BCH "receive" address and send your full BCH balance to it.
Done. This should be enough for your coins to be split. This process only has to be done once. After your coins are split, they are split forever, and further deposits you receive will also most likely already be split.

How to claim BSV coins:

Only do this if your coins are already split, otherwise the transaction will happen with both coins.

I recommend that you use coinomi wallet, which support both chains

Then he contacted the exchange to check whether they received or not. They confirmed that they received both the transactions. Also, they have refunded the coins.

I think you can still split your funds now. Many wallets support splitting of BCH and BSV like Exodus wallet, Coinomi wallet, Trezor, Ledger, Electrum etc.
