Bear in mind too the definition of active. Vod’s BPIP considers a user active if he has logged-in within the last three months. That is therefore the context of the data you are looking at.
There is also an interesting post that analysis activity, created by
mazdafunsun (see
The real activity of bitcointalk.org + full stats). This post shows the data by rank, and compares four different criteria:
- Logged-in in the last 3 months.
- Logged-in in 2018.
- Logged-in and posted in the last 3 months.
- Logged-in and posted in 2018.
These criteria are easily comparable in a single table in the referenced post:
As you can see, those who have created a post over the last three months are way lower than just having logged-in, and the amount of Newbie accounts is abysmal. The number of Newbies that post is really large, although it likely groups Newbies, demoted Jr. Member and bot accounts.
Having said that, it does look like there is a lot of potential for growth, and perhaps some focus will be placed there at some point (sem/seo, etc.). It also denoted that merit should be easier to obtain than one would have thought, since the number of active forum members that actually post is less than one may have had in mind.
Note: We also need to consider the amount of readers who browse the forum while lacking an account.
