Hey, I'm a developer working on some new tech. I was hoping the discussion forum would be talking about the pros and cons of different consensus algorithms, possible attacks, etc. Instead it is people freaking out because prices are down. The mod is responsive when I report stuff to be moved to speculation, but it would be nice to have a dedicated forum to talk about development approaches and challenges. I don't think the audience in Altcoin > Discussion is right for this.

I see there is Bitcoin > Project Development, but my coin will not necessarily tie into Bitcoin, so a more general development forum would be nice. If that is the right place to post though lmk I'd be happy to use it.

Thanks!

But if the discussion isn't tied to specific altcoin, then Serious Discussion should be okay.

I believe the OP meant, not tied to Bitcoin and hence can not be posted in Bitcoin > project development.
And serious discussion has a strict no advertisement policy.

There are still posts I see there which borders on the technicality of coins. And you can always add yours to the mix,as there is no other suitable section

A new section wouldn't be created simply because you're having issues posting in the main board, the very reason you're complaining is why most members have totally abandoned the board and put it on ignore to avoid crossing parts with it mistakenly.
You'll definitely have to promote your tech in there and pay attention only to the genuine responses/replies and reporting the spam one's.

Yea, I'm not so worried about on topic replies. I just think most people who regularly visit that forum are not interested in technical discussion. I think the technical threads will sink pretty fast.

Serious will be a good option once I'm able to post there. I'm not super concerned about promotion right now, mostly just want to get people's take on different ideas. I'm sure there is a lot of cool concepts I'm not aware of that devs more experienced in the area could recommend.
